Our Town
Spalding is a beautiful market town sitting on The River Welland in South Holland. Spalding is famed for the longstanding Flower Festival in May, The Pumpkin Festival, held in October and the newest addition to major events held in the town is The South Holland Food Festival, launched July 2010 this looks set to be an annual summertime event.
Residents of South Holland are spoilt with the amazing sky and sunsets over the flat land; make sure if you are visiting you drive into the countryside to admire the view. Georgian terraces front the tree-lined River Welland which runs through the town centre of the town. Overlooking the river stands Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens, the beautiful late-medieval Hall once belonged to a wool merchant. Today it is home to a museum depicting life in the area over the centuries. Entry is FREE to both the museum and the breath-taking gardens where you will find a duck pond, play area and café.
Spalding's vibrant Town Centre boasts a superb selection of independent shops, supermarkets, department stores, butchers, greengrocers and more. There is a market twice a week on a Tuesday and Saturday selling everything from fresh produce to household goods, flowers and clothing. If you are looking for entertainment The South Holland Centre offers a wide range of arts events throughout the year, including theatre, dance, jazz, folk, comedy, children’s shows and a cinema too.
Whether you live here or are just visiting Spalding has something for everyone. We love Spalding!
